Thracian Gold Mask – Kazanlak Museum

One of the most iconic finds from Thrace – a golden mask of a Thracian ruler, exhibited at the Museum of History in Kazanlak. The mask is made of pure gold and was placed on the face of the deceased over 2400 years ago.

Similar golden masks have only been found in royal tombs of the Thracian aristocracy – a symbol of divine power and eternity. This is one of the most impressive testaments to the grandeur of the Thracian civilization.
